Russell 50 T20I wickets
West Indies’ star Andre Russell got his first wicket by dismissing Papua New Guinea’s Charles Amini, who scored just 12 runs off 14 balls.
Thanks to Nicholas Pooran’s excellent catch behind the stumps, Russell hit a new milestone by reaching 50 wickets in T20Is.
The West Indies team took this crucial wicket at the perfect time.
Russell bowled a short-length delivery at 134.2 kph. The ball pitched on the middle stump and angled across Amini, a left-hander.
Amini attempted a cut shot, but there wasn’t enough room, and he edged the ball to the keeper, Nicholas Pooran.
This wicket broke the growing partnership between Amini and Sese Bau, who went on to score his first IPL fifty just minutes later.
Papua New Guinea showed resilience, reaching a score of 107/6. Stay tuned to our live blog for all real-time updates.
