Bibhav Kumar Allegedly Assaults Swati Maliwal
Bibhav Kumar, a close associate of Arvind Kejriwal, has countered allegations in the reported assault incident involving Swati Maliwal, claiming that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP is attempting to wrongly implicate him to exert undue pressure. He asserts that the former Delhi Commission for Women chairperson instigated a disturbance and attempted assault as she forcefully entered the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence on May 13 without authorization.
In his filed complaint, Bibhav Kumar alleges that Maliwal trespassed into the premises and gained unauthorized access to Kejriwal’s residence. He states that Maliwal verbally abused him, questioning his authority to prevent an MP’s entry, and even threatened him with false legal action, stating she would ensure his lifelong imprisonment.
Kumar has forwarded a copy of his complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North).
Earlier the same day, Maliwal had accused AAP of reversing its stance, asserting that just two days prior, the party had acknowledged Kumar’s misconduct towards her.
She stated, “The individuals who recently joined the AAP have labeled a party loyalist of 20 years as a BJP agent. The party admitted to the truth at a press conference two days ago, but today, it has reversed its position.”
Maliwal further accused Kumar of intimidating the party, warning that she would disclose confidential information if arrested, which, she alleges, is why he is seeking refuge in various places, including Lucknow.
On May 13, Maliwal arrived at Kejriwal’s residence around 8:40 am and identified herself as a Rajya Sabha MP when questioned by security. Despite being asked to wait while her appointment details were verified, Maliwal forcefully entered the Chief Minister’s residence. Despite security objections, she proceeded into the main building.
After being directed to the waiting area, located within the Chief Minister’s Residence campus but not within the main building, Maliwal began verbally abusing staff and demanded to meet Kejriwal.
Around 20 minutes later, Maliwal left the waiting area and entered the main building. Upon learning of this, Kumar confronted her in the drawing room at 9:22 am.
Despite Kumar’s polite requests to follow protocol for meeting Kejriwal, Maliwal continued to verbally abuse him and threatened dire consequences if he obstructed her.
As Maliwal moved towards the inner part of the residence, Kumar attempted to stop her, fearing harm to Kejriwal. Maliwal pushed him aside and made false allegations to the Police Control Room.
Despite Kumar’s repeated requests to leave, Maliwal continued to abuse him and physically pushed him. Security was eventually called, and Maliwal left the Chief Minister’s residence around 9:35 am.
Kumar urged the police to take legal action, alleging BJP involvement in Maliwal’s actions due to ongoing Lok Sabha polls. He requested investigation into Maliwal’s communications with BJP members.
On Friday evening, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) visited the Chief Minister’s residence for investigation, accompanied by Delhi Police officers. The FSL team returned with additional equipment an hour later.
At 6:23 pm, Delhi Police arrived at the Chief Minister’s residence with Maliwal, who left around 40 minutes later.
Early Saturday, a Delhi Police team concluded its investigation and videography of Kejriwal’s residence and departed
