Netherlands Tri-Series: Ireland and Scotland Highlights

Triumphs Over Scotland in Netherlands Tri-Series Opener

Netherlands triumphed over Scotland by 41 runs in the opening game of the tri-series, which also includes Ireland, in The Hague on Saturday, May 18. Vivian Kingma (4-21) and Logan van Beek (3-18) delivered star performances, leading the Dutch team to victory.

Chasing a competitive target of 168, Scotland’s innings started poorly, as Kingma’s impressive new ball spell and van Beek’s support left the visitors reeling at 16/3. Richie Berrington (39 off 29) and Matthew Cross (49 off 32) tried to mount a comeback with a counterattacking 66-run partnership, but once they were dismissed, the Scottish innings collapsed again.

Apart from Berrington and Cross, no other Scottish batsman reached double digits. Aryan Dutt (0-20) also bowled economically for the Netherlands, particularly during the powerplay.

Earlier, the Netherlands set a strong total thanks to a collective batting effort. Michael Levitt (43 off 31) and Max ODowd (30 off 30) provided a solid foundation with a 68-run opening stand. Vikramjit Singh (39 off 18) and Teja Nidanamuru (19 off 10) added quick runs towards the end, helping the team reach 167/8 in their 20 overs. Gavin Main (2-26) was the standout bowler for Scotland.

Brief Scores:

Netherlands: 167/8 in 20 overs (Michael Levitt 43, Vikramjit Singh 39; Gavin Main 2-26)
Scotland: 126 in 18.1 overs (Matthew Cross 49; Vivian Kingma 4-21, Logan van Beek 3-18)
Result: Netherlands won by 41 runs
